Get to Know Dr. Amita Patel

Dr. Patel is from the small town of Monticello, Kentucky near Lake Cumberland. Dentistry has been a lifelong passion for her. She has always drawn motivation from seeing her care provide relief to her patients, whether that be from oral pain or from being unhappy with their smile. She knows that many patients feel anxious about going to the dentist, which is why Dr. Patel works hard to make sure that all of her patients feel at ease in in the office. She has extensive experience in general dentistry, oral surgery, root canal therapy, cosmetic dentistry, dentures, and injectables. To learn more about her background, continue reading below.

Why Did You Become a Dentist?

Dr. Patel has always been drawn to the medical field, and she had the opportunity to shadow a dentist in her hometown at the age of 16. She recalls countless patients who expressed that their oral health issues were not only causing physical discomfort but were also affecting their daily lives and relationships due to feeling embarrassed of their smile. She was able to follow these patients through their treatment and was moved by how much of a positive impact were made on these patients’ lives not only through alleviating their pain, but also by relieving them of the stigma that they felt from their oral health and allowing them to feel proud of their smile again.

Dr. Patel also learned to appreciate how dentistry is not only a field of medicine, but also requires the application of artistic skill in its practice. Every patient has a unique smile, and for that reason their dental care must be unique. She knew that she would enjoy learning not only the technical foundations of dentistry, but also the skills that are essential to providing high-quality dental care.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Patel completed her undergraduate studies in Biology and Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of Kentucky. After graduation she received her advanced training certificate in Endodontics.

Outside of the Dental Office, What do You Like to Do?

Dr. Patel enjoys cooking, traveling, playing board games, and enjoys hiking.
